Domestic Oblivion

When I Die

I like to read the obituaries.  Davie-O thinks it’s a morbid, grandma thing to do, but I think it’s nice.  Sometimes there are some really lovely obits.  And I like to look at the photos.  I always think to myself “Oh, they were very pretty/handsome 50 years ago.  Jeez, couldn’t anyone find a decent picture of them taken in this century?”

And we all know that as mothers, we’re the ones who always take the pictures.  We’re behind the camera, not in front of it.  Which is fine, really.  However, if I died tomorrow, I’d probably end up with some horrific 80′s hair photo because there are so few recent photos of me.

If I did die tomorrow, a distraught Davie-O would go to some funeral home, and some nice, somber man would tell him he needed to bring the most recent photo taken of me for my obituary.  And Davie-O would come back later, with the following photo.  The only photo taken of me this Christmas.

IMG_3761 That’s right people!  The ONLY picture taken of me this Christmas holiday was a shot of my ass on the one day I took a nap.  And to add insult to injury, every time Davie-O looks at it he chuckles and says “Yup, there’s mom at Christmas”.

Being the grinch you are, I wouldn’t expect you to be doing anything else on that day except for hiding under the covers!
