I am happy today because in spite of our triple digit afternoons, we often get a morning with a lovely cool breeze. You can forgive a lot of hot afternoons when you get a cool evening and morning breeze.

Re single parenting. It’s exhausting, but uncomplicated. That is, if you don’t do it, it won’t get done. No negotiating, no arguing, no bargains. Either done or not done. Embrace that simplicity, and do it YOUR way. Or not.

I’m happy today because I don’t feel like a failure about making some tough desicions as a single parent. Four months ago I was having a lot of single parent issues with my 15 yo daughter that got so bad that I end up sending her to live with her Aunt. She has come back for a week to visit me while she is on school holidays. Her grades have improved out of sight and she is more focused about her future. I know I did the right thing, even though it has caused me a lot of heartache. Right now she is snuggled safely in my bed and she looks beautiful sleeping peacefully there. I love her.

I’ve been reading your blog for months now. I put it in my favourites the first day I came here. You’ve made me laugh and thats a good thing.

I am happy today because I work from home, and I am in my soft pants and barefoot at my desk right now.

I was happy to see the teenager sleeping in on a summer day, her touseled hair only visible from under the blankets, while the two-year old is forming full 5 word sentences–she makes me smile ridiculously every day.

Today the Angel’s trumpet, the giant bird of paradise AND the giant cactus are all blooming–and the mandevilla is about to bust out with scarlett flowers.

I am happy being alive and healthy and I love that my legs are so sore from my last two days of skating.

I was happy to spy a painting I did for some friends in the background of a picture they posted. It’s just there, in the background, in their everyday lives, it made me happy.

Knowing you are still a force in the world, that makes me happy today, too.

1. This post! This post totally made me happy today. It’s good to see people focus on the positive, because it reinforces my positive nature.

Hmmm, what else made me happy today?

B. School kicked ass tonight. I’m so in love with the course I’m taking right now. It’s geektitude to the extreme, but the following puts a giant smile on my face:

(SP-VC)*N – FC = OI (1 – Tr) = NI

Do you know how many ways you can play with that equation and how useful it is? Love it.

3. Two blocks over from my house, someone has bought one of the new Chevy Camaros. Wow – such a looker in person. I love walking past it each morning as I head to the subway to go to work.

Today I am happy because dad’s test results were good – and not what the original doctor had anticipated. And I love that you have a chubby wrinkly dog that makes you smile. I am also very envious of that plus the fact that you are able to complete projects and still look after 4 kids on your own without adding vodka to your martinis LOL. By 7pm I am ready for straight vodka – forget the other stuff LOLOLOL. Or a straightjacket…

I’m glad you like the concoction that I created! (hint: it tastes better w/ 2 shots!)
Don’t let the off meds things let you down…sometimes all you can do is say “MOVIE NIGHT!”, grab some popcorn and sit down with the beasties. Being a single parent to 4 while Davi-O is away is a big job! I’m available almost any night to hang out w/the kiddos and give you a break or just to hang out with you!
What makes me happy? Seeing the friends I love happy!
